Great Comprehensive Transportation System

Expressway network: Xuchang-Guangzhou Expressway (G0421), Lechang-Guangzhou Expressway (G0423), Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway (G4), Airport Expressway and its north extension (G45), West Second Ring Expressway (G1508), Zhaoqing-Huadu Expressway (G94), Foshan-Qingyuan-Conghua Expressway (S16), Guangzhou-Lianzhou Expressway (S1); and projects under construction: the expressway connecting Qingxin District of Qingyuan and Huadu District of Guangzhou, and the section between Baiyun District of Guangzhou and Sanshui District of Foshan of the Huizhou to Zhaoqing Expressway. 

Urban expressways: Huadu Avenue, Kongtie Avenue, Hongmian Avenue, Guangzhou-Huadu First-grade Highway, Ganglian Avenue (Airport North Access Road), Yongjiu Urban Expressway North Extension; projects under construction: Xinhua Avenue; and the forward planning project: optimization of the Shanqian Tourism Avenue. 

Rail Transit: According to the Territorial Spatial Master Plan of Huadu District　　of Guangzhou (2021–2035), by 2035, Huadu District will have a rail network consisting of 7 high-speed rail lines, 2 conventional rail lines, 9 metro lines, and 5 intercity rail lines.7 high-speed rail lines: Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway (Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway), Guangzhou-Qingyuan-Yongzhou High-speed Railway, Guiyang-Guangzhou High-speed Railway Guangning Connection Line, Guangzhou-Heyuan High-speed Railway, Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, Guangzhou to Zhuhai (Macao) high-speed railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen New High-speed Railway Corridor;2 conventional rail lines: Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Guangzhou-Shitan Railway Changgang Connection Line;and 5 intercity rail lines/sections: Guangzhou-Huadu Intercity, Fangcun-Baiyun Intercity, Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity (Guangzhou Station to Feixia), Guangzhou-Foshan West Ring Intercity, Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity;and 9 metro lines: North extensions of Line 18, Line 22, Line 3, and Line 8, as well as Line 29, Line 9, Line 35, Line 36, and Line 41.

The vision is that by 2035, Huadu District will achieve the "10–30–60" time-space goals of rail transit: 10-minute shuttle between the two transportation hubs of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Guangzhou North Station, 30-minute connection from Huadu District to Guangzhou downtown, and 60-minute connection to major cities in the Greater Bay Area.　　

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

As one of China's three major aviation hubs, the airport rated as an Excellent Airport in Service Quality (10 million and above passenger throughput category), ACI 2024 Best Airport over 40 Million Passengers in Asia-Pacific, and Cleanest Airport in Asia-Pacific. In 2024, Baiyun Airport recorded a passenger traffic of 76.369 million, setting a new record; and its cargo and mail traffic of 2.3825 million tons secured it a second place nationwide for five consecutive years. In 2025, with the operation of Terminal 3 and the fifth runway, Baiyun Airport became the world's largest single-terminal airport, and stepped forward into the ultra-large-scale operation stage with "five runways, and three terminals". 

Guangzhou North Railway Station Integrated Transportation Hub

Efforts are being made to raise the positioning of Guangzhou North Station, and renovate it to high standards, and to promote the construction of new station yard and station buildings for the Guangzhou-Qingyuan-Yongzhou High-Speed Railway, and the reconstruction of existing station buildings on the eastern side. The planned near-term scale of the station consists of 13 platforms and 25 tracks.The current average daily passenger flow of the station is 37,300 persons (including railway and intercity passengers), and the planned annual passenger flow is40 million after full completion.

Existing railway connection project: Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway; railway connection projects in the pipeline: Guangzhou-Qingyuan-Yongzhou High-speed Railway, Guiyang-Guangzhou High-speed Railway Guangning Connection Line, Guangzhou-Heyuan High-speed Railway, Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, Guangzhou-Zhuhai-Macao High-speed Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen New High-speed Railway Corridor, a total of six new inter-regional high-speed railway lines. Existing intercity connection projects: Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity, and Guangzhou East Ring Intercity; intercity connection project in progress: Guangzhou-Foshan West Ring Intercity. Existing metro connection project: Metro Line 9; and metro connection project in progress: north extension of Metro Line 8.These make Huadu District a major integrated transportation hub in South China that combines high-speed rail, conventional rail, intercity rail, and metro transportation.

Culture

Huadu has a long and rich history, is home to the Former Home of Hong Xiuquan, which is a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level, the Memorial Museum of Hong Xiuquan, the Memorial Temple of Royal Consultant, which is also the site of Guangzhou Folk Museum, and numerous other scenic and historical attractions.

Huadu's folk culture is colorful, including Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Qingming Festival, Hungry Ghost Festival, Guanyin's Birthday, Pangu King Folk Culture Festival, to name just a few.

Pangu King Folk Culture Festival has been accepted as an intangible cultural heritage at the provincial level. In addition to such traditional activities as Snatching the Big Firework, Prayer for Blessings, Joss Sticks Burning, and Pangu Dance, many new ones have been introduced, including "Mountain Songs for Pangu King--Hakka Mountain Songs Competition of Shiling Town", and "Colorful Folk Culture--Gallery of Folk Culture and Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritages.

Tourism

With the cultural tourism city as the spearhead, efforts will be made to built tourism and vacation resorts with Huadu characteristic, by leveraging provincial scenic areas such as Wanzi Mountain Forest Park, Furong Vacation Resort, Pangu King Park, and Vanilla World, and integrating other local tourism resources, including Hongshan Village, the most beautiful mountain village in Guangzhou, Jiulong Lake Vacation Zone, Stone Mineral Park, Gaobaizhang area in Timian Town, Baosang Park, Mucuna Birdwoodiana Base, and Oriental Cherry Base.

On the basis of the excellent ecological environment, rich cultural endowments, and other unique resources of Huadu, a plan has been made under the guidance of "distinct industries, excellent ecological environment, and rich cultural features" to build 10 small towns that excel in production, living, and ecosystem, including ecological tourism town of Timian, jewelry town of Xiuquan, little town of Huashan, Huadu green finance town, e-commerce start-ups town of Xinhua, fashion town of Shiling, Jiuqu River green town of Chini, Lingnan ancient village town of Tanbu, agriculture and education town of Huadong, and scientific innovation dream town of Xinya.

Medical service

Huadu now has 1 Class A tertiary hospital, Guangzhou Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine Hospital; 1 Class B tertiary hospital, Huadu District People's Hospital (Huadu Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University); 2 Class A secondary hospitals, Huzhong Hospital and Hudu District No. 2 People's Hospital; 6 Class A primary hospitals. Plan has been made to build or upgrade the new campus of People's Hospital, Renji Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong Provincial Dental Hospital, Guangzhou Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine Hospital, and District No. People's Hospital, in order to provide comprehensive medical and healthcare services to the people.

Four general higher education institutions (Guangdong Peizheng College, Guangdong University of Education, Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology, and Guangzhou College of Technology and Business), and five institutions (junior college) for technical and vocational education (Guangdong Technician College, Guangzhou Univesity College of Municipal Works and Construction, and Guangzhou Civil Aviation College) train talents in great number every year, and provide a great deal of technology support for automotive, airport, and equipment manufacturing industries of the District.

The District currently has 2 national key laboratories (one of them is still under way), 2 provincial key laboratories, 31 provincial engineering technology centers, 31 advanced engineering technology centers (R&D centers), 68 District-level engineering centers. Over 80% of enterprises above designated size have their own in-house R&D institutions and are engaged in industry-university-research institute collaboration with higher education institutions.
